Mastitis and pus

Hello,

I've been diagnosed with mastitis and am taking the antibiotics and feeling a million times better. But pus is coming out when I hand express. I'm thinking that it's a good thing the pus is coming out, but a bad thing that there is pus in my breast. Does this mean I have an abscess or will get an abscess? Should I be trying extra hard to get all the pus out? Thanks.

No experience I only know that many hcp tell you not to feed directly but to express and I've read on here that that is incorrect and that you should keep feeding as baby will remove milk (and pus) quicker and more effectively. A lot of doctors don't know much about bf it isn't in their training I believe... Hope you get better v soon

Apparently the pus isn't bad for baby although they may posset more than usual
