This thread should also include staying awake during the day in the title as I've struggled with this today Confused!
I had a meltdown sob at lunchtime when he wouldn't nap & I felt like death. DH keeps telling me not to worry & we will get him on a bottle but somehow I can't see it being that easy (or necessarily solving these problems). Thanks susie got my lanisoh out, weird as I never had sore nipples in the beginning but now he's decided to chow & twist them its a different story (I'm having a boob Job when I'm finished having babies - they look like deflated balloons!).
He's just fallen asleep after 2 mins feeding ConfusedConfusedConfusedConfused (precisely - I timed it!!!). DH thinks we should attempt a middle of night sleepy bottle - I say you go for it - I bet £50 it won't work!!
small how u doing with bottles? Any better with his tummy?

Slummy mummy - my new name - I'm in creased clothes, house looks like there's been a drugs raid & my hair has 3 inches of root re growth Grin the joys of motherhood! X

MrsNPattz · 21/12/2012 19:34

We have had a bad day nap wise too - he's not slept much at all but I can tell he is tired.

I watched Magic Mike today - I can highly recommend ladies Wink

We are just waiting for a Chinese - soooo hungry! See you all soon at probably a transfer fail!

OP posts:
Susieloo · 21/12/2012 21:03

Could really eat a Chinese now mrsn, hope you enjoyed it and hope there are middle of the night left overs! And agree re magic mike, definitely worth a watch!!

My sleep this morning was amazing thank you small, my mum and dad picked him up at 9 and I had foregone my usual coffee so I could maximise sleep potential, I read for a bit but was fast asleep by 9.30 and woke up at 12!! Babyloo had behaved impeccably whilst he was gone so my mum and dad are keen to do it again-fine by me!

I pushed bed time back by half an hour tonight and I've also taken one less layer off him under his gro bag, he's a warm baby so I wondered if he has been getting too hot, he takes after me I think, dp says I am like a radiator when he comes to bed, so far all is quiet after bed time at 6.30 so hoping for a better night.

Amey - I spend all day in my pyjamas when we are home alone all day and I haven't worn my hair down in weeks due to babyloo chomping on it, the house looks like a bomb site most days so I am definitely a slummy mummy!!

Hope everyone has good nights.

MrsNPattz · 21/12/2012 21:12

I am a slummy mummy too! Although I am getting waxed and my fringe trimmed tomorrow thank god. And on Christmas Day I have a new outfit and am actually going to wear eye make up which I haven't done since March.

Just had a stressful bath time, he swallowed some water and got himself in a right state. A feed calmed him down and he is now fast asleep, going to stay snuggled up like this for a while before I attempt a transfer.

And on a final note - Channing Tatum is so hot Grin

Hello all and welcome tooodle!

DS normally falls asleep at around 7.30-8 but he's still up at 9.15!! Not sure if that's because he's napped quite a lot today, on and off for around 3 hrs! Don't know what knock on effect that will make to the early hours...

Chinese sounds nice. Hubby is making chicken fajitas - we normally eat at around 8 after DS falls asleep... It's now almost 9.30

Hope everyone will have a good night!

MissingMyBaubles · 21/12/2012 22:22

I am definitely a slummy mummyXmas Grin mmmmm Chinese, MrsN. I need to stop eating though! I have managed to have a hair cut and I have to wear war paint mascara because I have very short hair, because it is the only thing my hair will do, it's wild otherwise. Am usually covered in slobber and baby sick as Missmarbles spits up as soon as look at you and she's very dribbly.

We had an intruder at 7 after a 6.30 bed time but its still quiet which is longer than normal......

Been reading up for an interview but can hardly keep my eyes open zzzzz

Smallgreenone · 21/12/2012 22:44

Hi amey I've given up on formula! He takes a bottle beautifully but I think the formula disagrees with him. He was on hipp, he won't drink aptamil at all or cow and gate. As he's four months now and will probably start weaning at 5 months I've decided to just carry on for now although I'll have to find one he likes eventually. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
DH has just given him 4oz of milk but its not enough and he's having extra from me. Hope this means a long stretch coming up.

MissingMyBaubles · 21/12/2012 23:07

Spoke too soon! Have just fine first feed....

Susieloo · 21/12/2012 23:16

First feed of the night which is a massive improvement!! I can't stop thinking about Chinese and feel ravenous, dp just come to bed and asked if I'm hungry so after suggesting we get a take out he has gone to make some cheese on toast. Babyloo having a mammoth feed, I wonder if he's been getting too hot and that's why he has slept so well now.

Walking into town tomorrow, might have to call in at the Chinese that opens on a SaturdaySmile

HeffalumpsAndWoozles · 22/12/2012 00:31

We're up in bed at last, although its still early by babylump standards so may not be asleep for long. I have a question, those of you whose LOs have a bedtime, what age are they & was it a conscious effort or something that happened naturally? Babylump is starting to get really tired in the evenings now that she's a bit older (coming up 12 weeks) and therefore more awake during the daytime but instead of going to sleep earlier she's just started yelling her head off from about 6 ish off and on between catnaps until around this time each night when she will finally fall into a deep sleep and I can put her down.

I don't really intend to impose much of a routine on her just yet but I am curious about how it's worked for others, and also starting to doubt my convictions as if she really is that tired should I be doing more to help, (although god knows what, she seems determined to be awake and angry despite my best efforts!). I think we let DD1 do her own thing until 4 or 5 months but I can't really remember!

Good to hear there's been a few improvements for people tonight, and susie your morning lie in sounded lush I hope you get to repeat it!

Night all hope the sleepy dust has settled :)

Susieloo · 22/12/2012 02:43

2nd feed of the night and I am expecting a transfer fail, he seems very awake!!

Heff-we sort of fell into a bedtime routine at about 3 and a half months I think-I started bringing him up to bed for quiet nappy and clothes change and then feed and bed, this was around nine and gradually got earlier and earlier, now that we are bathing him without his bath chair because it tires him out I've just started doing bath then straight into our room with low lights etc, we used to bring him back down after his bath.

It all seemed to happen quite gradually.

Gutted there is no chocolate in the house.

Hope everyone getting some zzzzzzz

MrsNPattz · 22/12/2012 03:30

First feed here - not too bad after 10 o'clock put down.

Sorry for making everyone crave Chinese lol it was delicious! I need to stop eating too but need to accept it's not gonna happen just yet!

Can't believe it's nearly Christmas! What is everyone doing on Christmas Day? We are going out for lunch to a hotel, then back to SIL's. It will be very strange not seeing mum and dad as this is my first Christmas up here. If we were at my mum and dad's we would be going for Indian Grin

OP posts:
StuntNun · 22/12/2012 04:07

Second feed of the night here. Will he go to morning? Probably not!

MrsNPattz · 22/12/2012 04:10

Transfer fail Hmm

OP posts:
Smallgreenone · 22/12/2012 04:38

DH has been trying to give baby small a bottle for the last hour and has had little success and repeated transfer fails. I knew his offer of help was a lovely one but also not much help. At least he knows how I feel!!
I'm without my parents too mrsn, we are just 5 on Christmas Day as just have the inlaws coming. I will miss my hectic chaotic parents place though as often find it too quiet with just dh's parents and its just not the same away from family. Next year though I want my family to come to us so we will be 10 and much more raucous boisterous fun. Xmas Grin
I can't wait for baby small to know what Christmas is, I LOVE it and can't wait to be able to get some Christmas traditions going.

Macaroons · 22/12/2012 06:06

One of the best nights I've had so far!!! DS slept from 9-11.45pm, woke him up for nappy change and late night feed and he only sucked for 15 minutes as he fell asleep and I couldn't get him to open his mouth. When he woke up this morning I couldn't believe my own eyes: 5.50!!! Maybe the key is not to let them sleep too early, i.e. 9pm instead of 7pm?

Macaroons · 22/12/2012 06:13

Don't know if you all find this year has gone by very quickly. We found out we are expecting in January, then spent the first nine months of the year anticipating DS arrival, and have been occupied (and sleep deprived) since his arrival, and its now almost the end of the year!!

We are going to have a quiet Xmas with just the three of us as my parents and my in laws don't live in this country and having visited us in September / November they are not visiting for Xmas. I reckon next Xmas will be fun for the little one as he will have a better idea of what's going on.

Susieloo · 22/12/2012 06:24

Much better night, not sure why but I will be trying to replicate today-well without me going to bed for the morning!

I think this will be us up for the day, big poonami has woken babyloo so I'm feeding him in bed but not hopeful he will go back down-I want him awake by 7 really anyway.

Mac-I always used to have better nights when babyloo went to bed at 9 but then he stopped sleeping in the day and bed times came forward getting earlier and earlier.

I have a horrible feeling dp wants me to go into town to pay a cheque into the bank, think it might be a little busy!

We are going to my mums for Xmas day, we will have Xmas eve at home with dss who is six and still believes so that will be great, then to my local pub which my best friend owns then gone for lunch, think my brother will be coming down if things are not sorted with his wife.

Going to try for another 40 minutes.

Goatbongohohoandjinglejingle · 22/12/2012 06:42

No chocolate in the house, susie ?! Send your DH out immediately!

Why oh why when Kid has the best night in ages, I.e. 6.5 hours then 4 do I have insomnia and remain resolutely awake since the 1:30 feed? Oh well...

Christmas the PILs will be with us. Usually on the day DH and I go for a walk before dinner, then we all spend the afternoon getting gently sloshed Xmas Grin Not sure about this year though as previously we have always been to them - and thus I am cooking dinner! Hopefully won't be pouring with rain all day... Xmas Hmm

Ameybee · 22/12/2012 06:46

Well, I was fed up last night so told DH he had to help me or at least stay with me to see what its like. DS down at 730 then woke up 3-4 times until 1030 then went till 3, then now! Amazing! I also put him down at 330 & initially thought transfer fail but was so knackered I left him & he self settled! Grin DH was very understanding about how hard it is for me, especially the early evening transfer fails & him not feeding properly.
heff I've been keeping DS upstairs from 7:30 after bath & kept trying to get him down but its only last week of so that I've managed it & he wakes for top ups until 9-10, but like susie said he also hardly sleeps in day which is frustrating!
We are at my mums for Xmas, so pleased. DD hangs her stocking on the bed, its so sweet, it is magical when they understand. Right, transfer and wee for me, hoping for another hour x

StuntNun · 22/12/2012 07:03

Three hours later I'm ready to feed J but he's fast asleep! Is it possible that by using the dummy, DH is keeping him asleep when he should be feeding? He has him all wrapped up in a blanket on his lap with the dummy firmly in place. Whereas if J was in the cot then the dummy falls out when he goes to sleep. It's not worth it if I have to feed him all morning as a result.

We are having out Christmas at home this year as J will only be six weeks. I have a three bird roast ordered from M&S which just needs to be bunged in the oven so Christmas dinner won't take much more effort than a Sunday lunch. If last year is anything to go by the boys (9 and 6) will be up at five and will have to be restrained from tearing all the presents open (even ones that aren't for them) in ten minutes flat. Instead I will make them space it out through the day. The PIL and one BIL will come round at some point. Breakfast is going to be grapefruit, croissants and Buck's Fizz. When we get hungry again or run out of presents we'll have elevenses of smoked salmon and wheaten bread (the boys love smoked salmon and I'm sure the dog and cat will want a share too!) Dinner is the three bird roast with NO SPROUTS followed by my mum's special homemade Christmas pud with extra thick cream. If anyone's still hungry for the rest of the day then there is cheese, chutney and biscuits. Truly a day of feasting, I don't think anyone is going to make it to the cheeses.

MrsNPattz · 22/12/2012 08:11

Feeding again here which wouldn't be too bad had it not taken nearly 2 hours to get him back down last time. The wind is making the nursery really cool and the gro egg is blue Shock

Macaroons we found out we were expecting in Jan too - cant believe its nearly a year ago! It was the best day ever - I did 4 pregnancy tests lol but the next day I had bleeding Sad we went to the drs who sent us to the hospital for a scan the day after but it was too early to tell so we had to wait 2 weeks. And at the scan we saw a little peanut Grin and subsequently was called peanut throughout my pregnancy Smile what happened when you guys found out?

Great, hubby has man flu and has woken up feeling worse so is spending all day in bed. It's not that I don't love spending time with little man, it's just nice to have another pair of hands at the weekend Blush

stunt talk of your feast has got me really looking forward to Christmas dinner! We are having lamb and turkey, cooked by DH, at my dad and stepmum's. My mum will be there too as they all get on really well. Plus DSM's parents so we will be 7 plus babyfunch. DB and DSIL plus her family will be over in the morning for smoked salmon and bucks fizz too Smile

I went out for a drink with my NCT group last night, leaving DH strict instructions to give babyfunch a bottle at 10:30. I got back just after then to find him asleep on the sofa Angry. Sent him off to make up the bottle and two mins later an alarm went off on the iPad. Bless him he had set it but the clock is a bit slow so it went off late. at least he was trying.

We then had 20 mins of screaming and refusing the bottle so eventually I went up and after another ten minutes she took it from me. Then more screaming as still hungry so I waited til after midnight as I thought most of the alcohol would be out of my milk by then and finally fed her so we got some quiet!

Then I had the gaviscon to get into her so more screaming; think I got her to transfer about half midnight. Then back up at 3 and transfer fail at 4. Think she had wind or constipation as she was really straining Sad. Nappy change and then DH took her downstairs at half four and I managed 2 hours of sleep. DH is braving the shops with her today...I think he is mad but I think he is looking forward to using the buggy to plough through the crowds!

Glad to hear there were some better nights. goat I sympathise, insomnia is a total bastard!

MissingMyBaubles · 22/12/2012 11:45

Urgh! Cosleeping from 4.30 after numerous chatty transfer fails, fed a few times sleepily til she and we got up at 9.30!! I know it is a growth spurt but still....

Christmas is at my patients with DB and his little family too. Can't wait!! Not seen any of them for months. We're going up at lunchtime on Christmas Day because DH is a minister and doing the Christmas morning service. He's shopping with DD1 at the minute. Oh so excited!! Xmas Grin

funchum8am · 22/12/2012 12:36

DH took babyfunch shopping. they have just got back and I slept the entire time....feel like a different person! (a better one!) Smile Smile
