I've got one now, used it this monring, got 1oz out in about 2 mins if that but it bloody hurt, anything I can do to help it? it's on the softest setting, hand pump I got 1 oz out eventually, but I leak between 1/2 oz and 1oz anyways so i'm thinking not to bother - that was first thing as well.

once the milk stops coming should I stop or keep going at it? my nipple was rather sore :(

will the expressing get easier? - is it like feeding the more u do it the more u get out? I wanted to only express in the mornings for Joey to ahve a bottle ready for DH to give him in the evenings.

Which brand, Munz? If its medela you can get a silicone shield that fits onto the funnel. Might make things easier?

it's one from ebay, just a cheap one, it's got a shell thingy it's just so strong - my boob still tingles!

I found electric pumping quite painful but also the only way I could get anything expressed which was a bugger. I just kept applying Lansinoh after each express.

tbh, munz, I always found those ones painful! I got more Milk with my Manual Isis too!

Keep going after the milk stops coming - you may find that you're just getting off the quencher/foremilk, and need to pump further before you tap into the hind milk. Try massaging your breast gently (moving towards the nipple) whilst you are doing it.

hiya MM2B - I added a message for u on our march board. I recommend loads of cream, take your time sit comfortably and remerb to release your boob - I do it once the milk comes slower. also have something sweet to eat by the side.

when Joey was 2 weeks old, I was storing bottles of 4 oz milk, however I don't think he always took that much - now at 7 weeks he's having 5oz bottles, but really he takes as much as he wants tbh. I feel its' better to have too much than not enough.

good luck - well done for coming this far thou - ooh and at 2 weeks my boobs were sore regardless! lol.

I could only express when DD2 was feeding on the other side. Then I could get gallons!

JellyNump · 18/04/2006 20:50

Yes the more you express the more you get like feeding. I can now manage about 7 oz from each side! {shock}

Don't overdo it tho, or your milk might flood, so I have been told.

Munz I have breast shells to collect any leaked milk
