Screaming at the bottle

my DS is 14 weeks old. For the past week he has taken a real dislike to his bottle. He literally screams his head off when it comes near him. I can dream feed him and feed him in the night with no problem. I tried to up the teat size which didn't help. I tried a change in bottle which didn't help either. I have spoken to the HV but he was a bit better that day so no real advice. The GP said she can't see any reason for him not feeding.

I am worried sick as he is taking less and less. Any advice please? X

Could he be tongue tied? This can affect bottle feeding as you describe.

I had him checked for TT when he was first born due to problems breast feeding. He has had 2oz now before bed :(

Gum/ teeth pain could be an issue / try a gel or powder ? Also my lo drank more if she had a break of 10 mins . Or use teetha or Ashton's and parsons then wait 10 before trying again ?

Silent reflux would be my bet to be honest. GP?

Have seen you saw GP. I would push and push and push. Silent reflux can be horribly painful for a baby bitter experience and the dream feeding makes it sound just like my DD. In the end she would not even dream feed. Ghastly. Please see dr again as refusing all bottles at that age is not right.

This happened with DS, I thought it might be reflux, but he was teething. The sucking was irritating his gums.

My lo had reflux and gum pain. If they settle quite quickly once you have stopped trying to feed I would lean towards gum pain . My lo has this on and off but no visible signs of teeth yet. As well as the powders I hear anbesol liquid is good .

I also upped teat size and she could cope. Less time sucking meant less pain and more milk x

I have seen the GP as I wondered about reflux but she doesn't think so. I have also got some teething gel too. He had a big poo explosion in the night so I hope that may have helped. No screaming yet today, but he tries to get his fingers in his mouth with the teat then cries when he can't suck properly.

I don't feel it is reflux but will certainly go back to the GP if no better this week

Are you feeding him on demand? What is happening with his weight? Is he weeing?

Obviously I'm not saying its normal because I'm just posting on the internet. But dd1 seemed to eat hardly anything as a baby. She grew along the 25th centile line. Dd2 had what seemed to be an enormous amount and guess what? She stayed on 25th centile till 6 months anyway.

There is no rhyme or reason to it as far as I can see.

Of course those who bf have no idea how much they are taking.

I am feeding on demand, although he usually feeds every 3-4 hours. He is weeing lots too. I had him weighed last week and he had put on but I hadn't had him weighed for 3 weeks so can't tell if he has put on or not since he has started being fussy.

When I am feeding I can hear his tummy rumbling and then he starts trumping so wonder if he has a tummy bug ....
