Help with keeping breast feeding going please!

I've a 6 month old boy who I'm combi feeding, breast then bottle at each feed. He's quite wheezy at the mo but is breathing well and has just cut his first two teeth. The problem I've had for the last 2 days is every feed he stays on for about 4 seconds (just enough to start let down) then buries his face in his feeding pillow, then tries to escape to play! However - when I give him the bottle there's no problem at all. No probs with me having enough milk (it's going everywhere but in him!) I really want to keep going but not sure if it's a teething thing or impatience or what. Any advice or suggestions really appreciated.

The bottle's going to be the much easier option of the two and give a much quicker return than the boob, so he may be indicating his preference to you. Why do you give both at each feed?

Are you using fast flow teats or the slowest possible ones? And Elphaba is right, the bottle is easier for him, so he prefers it. If you want to keep breastfeeding I'd reduce (or remove) the bottles and offer him the breast as much as possible.

Not just bottle being easier but as they get older and nosy breast is boring which is why many bf babies feed more at night than in the day. With the bottle he can look around while drinking so he goes with that.

My little guy is 7 months & stays on just for the let down before wriggling off. I then end up covered in milk. You can't chase them round with a boob like you can with a bottle. Takes a bit of effort but he will 'feed nicely' with some patience & encouragement.

Thankis all. Indith, I think you may be right. He does feed well in bed and I have a very lively 2 yr old who he loves to watch. It's the rubbing the face on the pillow I'd really like to get to the bottom of. Any ideas anyone?
