Block feeding to reduce letdown

Hoping to have some success stories!

Have a 13 week old baby and have struggling with painful feeding since the start. Have has tongue tie cut twice and now have lots clamping due to forceful let down. Not sure how much more pain I can take so hoping block feeding helps.

I didn't want your post to go unanswered. Sorry to hear you have had problems. My DD had tongue tie and that was very painful for me initially. I had a good supply/forceful let down too so although DD would splutter sometimes, I didn't get her clamping down - she just became a very efficient fast drinker!

There are some really good tips on the kellymom website Hopefully these will help. I certainly found changing the position that I was feeding DD helped (lying back and letting gravity help) as did going back on the same breast within 3 hour period.

Most people say your supply 'evens' out around 5-8 weeks and this is true for most, but for me, it was around 14 weeks that my supply/let down wasn't as forceful. Even up to around 10 months, when DD latched on one breast, I could still feel the let down and the other breast would leak (which I've heard is normal but not as usual by 10 months). We are now at 15 months and I haven't had 'full' breasts or felt my let down for around 3 months (we're still feeding) so my body has finally adjusted!
