A brand spanking new thread for midnight ramblings, chocolate covered pretzels and so much more Grin

OP posts:
missingmymarbles · 24/11/2012 03:23

I am sooo tired. 8 til 10 was the longest stint we've done tonight. Three transfer failures between midnight and 1.30. Up about forty mins ago to feed and discovered nappy leakage, which has woken her up completely. Is it ever going to go back to six or seven hours or an I destined for being up every hour til weaning Sad ?? It makes me so frustrated. Not with Missmarbles, she's far too cute, but I am so tired and look at the clock hoping that at least three hours gave past and its devastating to realise nope, you've had an hour. DH was properly useless tonight so I'm pissed off with him as well. And now I'm hungry. I also feel fat and frumpy all the time, my clothes feel horrible but I don't want to buy more at the minute, and eating in the middle of the night is not going to help that but in starving!!

missingmymarbles · 24/11/2012 03:26

Oh yeah, and I'm stressed about going back to work. I want another job. I don't want to do any KiT days because that means I'll have to go to my current department dhich is also truly Crappitty.

Sorry. Moan over.

Goatbongosanonymous · 24/11/2012 04:09

marbles sorry you are so fed up at the moment. Sleep deprivation and perspective aren't happy partners. Hope your night is improving so you get some much needed rest.

I swear Kid is a mind reader. Just did a transfer and was thinking how well it had gone. Cue contortions and noises worthy of an entire troupe of incompetent ninjas.

StuntNun · 24/11/2012 05:18

Marbles I'm back in hourly feeds tonight as well so I'm hoping this is a growth spurt. It's funny I don't remember this from my first two kids, I remember them feeding a lot but I don't remember it being quite so intense. It must be due to the permanent brain damage caused by lack of sleep.

MrsNPattz · 24/11/2012 05:25

Thanks funch, glad you are having a better night (hope it continued!).

Second feed here and little guy has a really snuffly nose! Sounds like its hard to breath poor mite Sad there is always something heh! Did someone recommend an olbas oil type thing - susie? Or was I dreaming lol

marbles sorry you are feeling so crap, hopefully you will get some rest today and will feel better. I know how you feel re fat and frumpy but I keep eating too! I'm not in the right frame of mind to try and shift it either so I will have to try and live with my new body a while longer Grin would you be able to have a bit of pampering - hair/nails/massage at all? Sending lots of hugs! Bear

Susieloo · 24/11/2012 05:43

It was babylon who recommended Karvol decongestant capsules which I've been using for a while and also olbas oil, think it helps a little bit, both say from 3 months I think but I used them a little earlier just kept the fabric with them on further away.

marbles I got quite panicky the other day that babyloo is going to be like this re waking for the next couple of months and I have told dp that I won't cope with it if it is, there is a reason sleep deprivation is used as a torture device it's unbearable at times, I've started to dread coming to bed. Hope you got a little sleep and feel a bit better in the morning.

Attempting transfer.......

Ameybee · 24/11/2012 05:49

Mrsn - it was me that recommend one you can use from birth - made by 4little1 - in a little blue bottle - you can get it from boots.

Marbles - bless you. I feel like that sometimes too!!it is definitely sleep deprivation - its not good! We've took a step backwards tonight - up again! It's even worse when you've had nights where you did get sleep!

Its all 'just a phase!' Remember! Xxx

Smallgreenone · 24/11/2012 06:29

I feel the same marbles and it is so hard. I think I have resigned myself though to the fact that he will wake like this until he starts solids. He's 3 months now so only 3 months to go- heeeeeeelpppp!!! After our really poor start and me having to sleep with him DH popped him in his cot at midnight when he came to bed, transfer was successful and he stayed there until 3 and now 6. Why can DH do cot transfers successfully and not me Hmm anyway I have had some sleep and feel better but is like more, hope everyone's nights improved.
funch glad kit day went well.

Ameybee · 24/11/2012 06:51

Up again :( after such a bad night I refuse to believe this is it & we are up for day, but his wide eyes and smile tell me otherwise :(. Knackered! Why don't they do anything consistently?! X

Smicha · 24/11/2012 07:51

Sorry to hear of such bad nights, ours was awful too. Got another initial four hour stint please let this be a pattern here to stay but then mini smich woke with a scream and howled each time I tried to feed him. In the end dh had to comfort him while I expressed and he then took a bottle from dh! No idea why as he's feeding fine again now, but as a result he was up for two hours! That was his only wake up though, so I'll be positive about that Hmm

StuntNun · 24/11/2012 07:53

Eight feeds last night! I expect to see he's gained at least half a pound when he gets weighed on Monday. That would make it worthwhile.

I use plug in diffusers for colds, Karvol, Vicks and Sudafed all make them. They work well for adults too to keep you unblocked at night.

MrsNPattz · 24/11/2012 08:51

Thanks stunt, susie and amey - will have a look today!

Speaking of babylon - hope you are doing ok! And everyone else who isn't posting so much, thinking of you.

We are up for the day. My mum's friend is coming to see him later and then I bought mum, dad, brother, hubby and me tickets to see Michael McIntyre for Christmas last year so they are going to that tonight and I'm staying with little man! My friend and her husband are coming to keep me company! Mum is insisting I go but as I bought them Christmas she is bloody going lol! Grin my ticket is going to brothers girlfriend who I met for the first time last night - she is very nice and very pretty Smile

missingmymarbles · 24/11/2012 11:04

It's nap time and I am joining her. We are co sleeping do she doesn't have me up too soon Wink

funchum8am · 24/11/2012 13:48

marbles and susie you have put exactly how I feel into words. Intense frustration that she wakes so often, and panic that it will continue til weaning, or that I will end up having a breakdown due to sleep deprivation. Plus feeling fat, having no decent clothes that fit, but eating at night etc. I feel a bit better knowing I am not in a minority of one (though I hope things improve for everyone asap, not wishing it on anyone!)

As it is Saturday DH took her downstairs at 4 when he got up (he is a weirdo like that) so I got a couple of hours then, then a bit more time dozing in bed with DD feeding lying down from 7:30 to 9.

Huge step forward with bottle feeding - she took 2 from DH this morning and one from me just now! Amazing! The childminder was absolutely right that she could help us get it sorted. Poor old DH is going to have to have her from 4 or 5 every morning from now on (i don't ask him to do the 10:30pm feed as his bedtime is about 8!

Ameybee · 24/11/2012 16:15

DS is really off today :( crap night & feeds have gone all of kilter - then random bouts of sleeping n screaming! My mum must think I'm lying about how settled he's been last week during day. No idea if its tummy ache or what but its bloody hard work, especially when we are not at home :( x

Susieloo · 24/11/2012 16:51

I'm Sad too amey babyloo has slept for an hour total today at 11am and is still wide awake which means I am in for a rough night I think, bedtime will have to be six at the latest and this usually means 3 hourly waking for the first stretch and then up every hour or so from 2am onwards and I'm dreading it alreadySad-realize that is not helpful and all about me but I figure misery loves company!!!

Ameybee · 24/11/2012 17:24

Thanks susie at least I know I'm not the only one :(. I've caved and am letting him sleep on me for a bit as its better than the unsettled over tiredness that we've had all day - well can only assume its that. Had a little cry upstairs, I'm just disapointed that he's been so settled all week then when we are at my mums its just been difficult :( I wanted them to see him his usual happy self. The weather is horrid too & I always try to get out every day for a walk so that makes me feel worse that we've not managed to get out.
Got my brother SIL and their 1 year old coming Tomo evening to watch the last Grand Prix of the season (DH's idea) the house is a dump so god knows when I'm going to get chance to tidy round!
Hope you have a better night susie! X

MrsNPattz · 24/11/2012 17:27

It sounds like we are all feeling pretty rubbish at the moment for different reasons. susie, marbles, amey and funch I really hope things pick up for you guys real soon.

We went to the pub for lunch and he slept thankfully. I'm feeling tired now so hoping for a better night and an early one but we all know what happens when we hope for things!

Smallgreenone · 24/11/2012 18:42

Sending virtual hugs to those having a rubbish time. Our day has been better today and I have everything crossed for tonight. Attempting transfer now.

Susieloo · 24/11/2012 18:47

As predicted he is way too tired to sleep so I've been feeding him for an hour with transfer fail number three under our belts now, I'm running out of options soon and might have to leave him for five minutes to cry if this latest feed fails, he must be totally exhausted.

Smallgreenone · 24/11/2012 18:57

Not sure if its success or fail- eyes opened when i put him down but I popped in his dummy and sneaked out anyway, no crying yet so maybe with any luck he'll go to sleep.

Smicha · 24/11/2012 19:37

Susie, take 5 minutes - you need it and it will help you deal with the rest of the night if you can take a breather.

Small, good luck! I hope he sleeps.

What would we do without this thread to vent?! Evening screams are pretty bad tonight in the smicha house. I've spent an hour or so with him, now DH is trying to calm him, but I can hear the screams and they are not getting any quieter! I've just poured myself a little Wine as I'm getting very stressed! He won't feed, he isn't windy. I think he's tired as he's had a few catnaps today but no real period of sleep, but of course he won't go to sleep. These evening screams are almost as hard as the night wake ups for me.

MrsNPattz · 24/11/2012 20:44

I have a grumpy boy tonight and I'm on my own - everyone else is at Michael McIntyre! Going to go up after this feed, he needs some dark and quiet. I think he is over tired or windy but I could be way off.

Just had my friend and her husband round. They have had a lot of miscarriages and are now stopping trying to save their marriage and I was worried it would be hard for them seeing little man but they are so strong and so happy for us. It's just so unfair Sad

Anyway, thinking of you all! Definitely take 5 if you need to and plenty of chocolate!! Biscuit

missingmymarbles · 24/11/2012 21:55

MrsN - Enjoy your quiet eveningSmile I feel for your friends. We had a hard time with DD1 and lots of losses before Missmarbles. They need to find peace and then be content, praying that for them.

Susie, Amey and Funch - I hope the babies give you a break tonight. I wonder why everything seems to be hunky-dory and then all of a sudden any routine we might have fostered goes tits up.

Small - hope you have a good night.

Smicha - you are so right about this thread. I think it's lovely and supportive.

Missmarbles has seemed to settle better, let's see if it lasts. She is over her poorliness although her cough still sounds throaty. She has fed much better today too, so I am hoping that that means she won't wake up so much through the night. The upset at the boob seems to have subsided too, only cried at it twice and even then as soon as she got near to it, she stopped and fed so hopefully things are getting back to normal. Such a 'hopeful' paragraph - lolGrin

Ameybee · 24/11/2012 22:04

I'm on 'theoretically' you might class as a last feed tho I doubt that very much - expecting a crap one and will prob have a bad back Tomo from reaching into travel cot!! Thankfully he's been much more his usual self after napping on me for an hour this afternoon but who knows what the night will bring! I know he hasn't fed properly all day so I don't have High hopes. I'm sure its not actually the case but does anyone else feel like they have no milk left in the evenings? Feels like he clears me out bobbing on and off then its only till I've had a couple hours sleep that they fill up! X
