bf - how do you give gaviscon?

Just wondering what everyone does, really. DD1 had ghastly reflux till about 12m. DD2 has it too - now 3m old and can see it carrying on for a while.

Since day 1 we've been struggling with bf what with one thing and another (entrenched thrush is the latest) and she still has a formula "top up" of an ounce or two after most feeds. The silver lining of this being that it's easy to get Gaviscon into her when I mix it with her formula. However, I haven't worked out any easy way to get it down her if she doesn't have the top up. If I just mix it with water and give from a bottle she gets quite shirty - and she doesn't do spoons as yet.

It's very demoralising when your norks spend hours making all that milk and then it just ends up in your offsprings' ears, via a brief sojurn in the stomach.

Any other suggestions?

I used to express once a day and then give the gavison mixed in with an oz of EBM in between each side and stored the milk frozen in oz portions in freezer bags. Was a bit of a faff, and I would probably try the syringe first if I have to do it again with another child.

i used mix it with a bit of EBM and then use a syringe and SLOWLY drip it (one mil at a time) into the side of her mouth - if you squirt it in the back, she will probably gag on it

good luck

I know this was posted ages ago but thought i'd add my tuppence worth. DD has her gaviscon mixed with cooled boiled water and takes it off a spoon. A nightmare at first, with lots of screaming fits but after a few days took it off the spoon readily. When I'm out and about I have a wee avent bottle, with the spoon in the bottle with some water, a sealing disk and the bottle cap on. When I need to give her the gaviscon i just mix it up in the cap.
