Hi all. My 8 mth ds is waking every hour through the night. He's on 3 meals a day and bf on demand. I'm exhausted. I've a 6 & 3 year old too so I'm conscious about not waking them. He is actually feeding at night not just suckling for comfort. Any one else in this situation ?

Are you getting enough feeds in during the day Lucy? Could he be reverse cycling?

You might find 12 alternatives for the all night nurser helpful too Smile.

Sorry, phone kicked by bf baby! Interesting article JJJ. OP I feel your pain, I was up every hour with 9 month old DS, although this doesn't happen every night. He's teething terribly, just starting to crawl and cruise and I went back to work in the afternoons 2 weeks ago, so I'm not surprised. I'm not going to actively cut out any more night feeds until he's 1, but I was demented with 5am-7am cluster feeding after a rubbish night anyway. DP took over at 5 every morning, shushing and rocking and now he stays asleep at that time. It took about 10 days.

Thanks jjj I will look at that article. He doesn't seem interested much in the day and hasn't since these crap nights started. He doesn't eat huge amounts of solids through the day. I offer boob throughout the day for drink and feeds but he pushes me away and gets stressed :( . Planned to feed on demand until he I'd 1 in January. Should I drop a meal maybe ? Many thanks x

I'd perhaps offer her less solids and try to (I know it can be difficult) bf her an hour before offering the solids. if she's refusing to nurse during the day, try lying down with her at nap time or feeding her when she is still a little dozy from a nap.

How much solids does she eat and how often?

He has 1/4 weetabix or small bowl of porridge with fruit pureé for breakfast, small bowl of veg with salmon or chicken (probably a tbsp in total) then a tbsp of veg with a few pasta shells in for tea. Sometimes he has it on the highchair sometimes I spoon feed.

There's a big developmental sleep regression between 8-11 months - baby is learning object-permanence and social referencing.

A less helpful contribution I know, but having just come through the 4mth sleep regression I did find that 'knowing' it was normal and positive and appropriate really helped me cope.

Thank you that's good to know. ^
