Tips for keeping ds awake during a feed

Ds is 7 weeks and ebf. Nightime feeds lasting up to an hour as ds will fall asleep on boob, but will wake up as soon as his head hits the mattress.

Have tried feet tickling, body tickling, blowing in face, rubbing cheek but will still doze off. If I give in an get him back to sleep in the cot he's awake again in half an hour looking for more food.

Ironically, if I change his nappy then he's too awake and will take an age to get back to sleep. Arrgh.

Any other tips on keeping him awake long enough to get the milk in. Have a 2 year old, so do need to get some sleep to cope. He's rubbish at lying down feeding as he just gets windy from all the on/off again rooting around, and needs constant burping

Thanks

I used to find stripping off clothes helped. But obviously you want to put them back on again before putting back down to sleep. Not sure if practical in the night time but maybe worth a try?

I've never managed it I'm afraid but DS is now 11mo and is a champion dream feeder. He feeds much better asleep because he's nosy and easily distracted and if he's awake he would rather do something than feed...

I have found that holding him for half an hour after a feed means he falls asleep deeply enough that he doesn't notice being put down. That only helps with settling though, not getting milk into him.
