How often do FF babies poo?

I was combination feeding up until 12 weeks (always with Dr Browns bottles), then started exclusively ff (with Hipp combiotic). DD is now 14 weeks, and has started only pooing once a day, with lots of straining and grunting, which she never used to do when combination feeding. Her poo is also quite thick and gluey now, and she's very windy and colicky, and generally miserable. Is this poo normal for ff babies? We were wondering about trying Aptamil comfort, but it's SO expensive. Does anyone know if you can get it on prescription?

Dd only used to go once a week and then filled three nappies in a row Grin

MW said they can go up to 10 days without going sometimes. I suppose it's different if she is in pain, but the consistency between ff and bf babies poo is quite different. I was always told it should be like toothpaste.

I would try another milk if you think Hipp is disagreeing with her - Cow & Gate is the same as Aptimal btw.
