Hi. My baby is almost 2 months old now and for the last week to 10 days I have been expressing to give him one bottle a day - expressing in the morning to give him a bottle at night when he seems to need more and i seem to have less. This is working well. The problem is i am now producing a bit too much milk. Because he sleeps pretty well at night i am now waking up in the middle of the night with rock hard books while he is still fast asleep. I have pumped or hand expressed to relieve this as i am worried about getting mastitis but i am worried i will just increase my milk production even more. Don't want to have to get up to pump in the middle of the night every night. Should i just hand express the minimum to make it comfortable ?? But then will my milk supply drop. Help....... :-)

I had this a few times with dd but it didn't last long - a few days at most. I got up in the night to hand-express the bare minimum to make my boobs more comfortable. Everything seemed to settle down after a few nights - how long's it been going on for you?

yep just express the minimum, is he still having at least one feed a night from you?

Thanks, yes he feeds once between 10pm and 7am - usually about 4/half 4 but I usually wake up earlier because Im getting uncomfortable. It happened last week then settled down and then started up again - I dont want to lose the good milk supply I have just tone it down slightly - will see how it goes with just taking off bare minimum, thanks.
