Does my 11mo need a mid-afternoon bf?

DC3 is 11 months old and is having a bf first thing in morning, last thing at night, 2 or 3 times during the night (am planning on sorting that soon-ish, once i've got the energy up to do night time patting / shushing etc and no boob!).

I also latch her on at around 2pm in the afternoon for a feed, but am starting to wonder whether she really needs this? She does feed at 2pm, but also does a lot of unlatching, looking around etc, I suspect she is just enjoying herself as opposed to really needing the feed, and as we're nearing 1yr and I'm trying to work out how to start dropping feeds, I wondered whether its ok to drop this mid-afternoon feed?

Any thoughts?

I would sort out the nights before dropping the days tbh or you are at risk of dd making it up at night tbh.

I disagree. She's well into solids by now and clearly doesn't really need the feed otherwise she'd be keener. I'd dropped everything bar the morning and evening feeds by this point and they eat a bit more solids.

On the night-time front you may find that your DP will have more luck persuading her that a feed isn't in the offing than you will.

Depends how you define "needing" the feed I guess.

well, I don't think she 'needs' the feed food-wise, but simply loves the act of BF...I don't want to deny her the enjoyment she gets out of BF, but I really do think I need to start thinking about weaning her off the boob, I would like to drop all feeding at 1yr old other than first thing in morning and last thing at night, so I just wondered whether, nutritionally she really needs the additional mid afternoon feed. Sounds like others only do morning / eve feeds so I think i'll drop the mid-afternoon one and see how it goes....thanks for all the advice x
