6 week old baby and EBF

This is my 3rd baby, so I should know what I am doing by now!

6 week old DD is EBF and has started to only take 5 minutes max on one boob. She then gets really distressed and pulls off, goes back on, pulls off etc. Does anyone know why she might be doing this? I try and wind her (rarely does a big burp) and offer again and she does not want it. I then offer the other boob and she does the same thing. Help! Ihave looked inside her mouth and there is no sign of thrush.

I am not sure about her weight gain the last couple of weeks; taking her to get weighed today.

Any ideas?

Have you tried just offering the second side after 5 minutes on the first?

Could be a growth spurt.

Yes, I do offer the 2nd side but she does the same thing....

Just try switch nursing then, offer first, seconded then third side and so on until she's had enough. Does sound like a possible growth spurt and six Weeks is a classic age for one.

Thank you, so it seems to be normal then. Just out of curiosity, how does taking less time to feed build up milk supply during a growth spurt?

Does she still seem hungry? After about 6 weeks DD never fed more than 5 minutes each side, apparently she's just a very efficient feeder!

No, she does not seem hungry after. She gets so cross and fussy and is fine once she has come off the boob. My GP weighed her today at her 6 week check and she has gone from the 75th centile to the 50th in last couple of weeks. He did not seem concerned though.

Mine DD is 5 weeks and is doing this she punches boob with my fist aswell :( ha ha. But I think she is jus tired. Can u pass her to someone else for a while as I found that if she could smell me it makes her worse then when she has calmed down try again? This LO is also ny third and I feel like it's my first all over again!
