Funny Lump? Wisdom needed.

Bit of an embarrassing question to ask Blush I have been EBF my dd3 for 20 weeks and seemed to have developed a funny looking lump next to left nip. It's the size of a pea, shiny and full looking but if squeezed nothing happens. It does hurt slightly and is getting bigger. I have no idea but am worrying about this. I am waiting to see our local practice nurse which am quite nervous about, i am a bit of a prude you see! Has anyone else had this? I googled, as you do, and blocked milk duct came up but is in wrong place I think. Or an abscess which seems to horrible to contemplate! I just thought there may be a simple solution if it's a common occurrence. Thanks Grin

Could be a milk blister, have a look on kellymom website. should be some info on there about them.

Thanks Migirl, I haven't had a look on there yet.

I'd strongly recommend getting some medical advice.i had what looked like a pimple on my areola which I ignored. Then it started leaking tiny amounts of pus. Still I ignored it. I ended up with a nasty infection and surgery to remove a deep breast abscess. I don't want to scare you but I just wish I'd seen someone earlier as antibiotics would have prevented a lot of pain. Don't panic about the abscess thing. It really hurt, I think you'd know if it had already gone that far. Good luck.

Hi friedrice, thank you for the advice, I am actually having similiar symptoms. It has become quite painful and just today weeping so am going to ring doc tomorrow. I have been waiting ages for them to fit me in. You haven't worried me, it's fine!! How awful for you to go through all that. You have in fact spurred me on to make sure I see someone quicker, it's so easy just to think nothing's wrong. Better safe than sorry.

Quick update and thanks for taking the time to answer me. It seems to be a big blister and has popped, bit yuck although healing very fast, relieved it's not anything else but will keep an eye on the damn thing anyway!

Glad to hear you are healing up, and not too much discomfort I hope! I hope breastfeeding is ok too - we got back to it after a while on just one side, and now is no problem. Take care!
