I'm EBFing my 23 week old DS. I had wanted to wait until 26 weeks to introduce solids, but he seems to be wanting to feed nearly every hour during the day.

He is teething as one of his eye teeth came in on Saturday, so I know the others on top are waiting to come in.

How can I get through the next 3 weeks? I do feed lying down, I co sleep, but can I hold out? I suppose introducing solids when he is teething wouldn't be a good idea anyway.

Help cheer me up!

Ah poor you! I am only on week 20 of ebfing, have you got any of the teethers you can chill in the fridge? Also there are camomile teething powders which I used with dd's 1&2 they may help relieve your ds enough to not need to feed hourly? You could also try chilled sticks of cucumber if considering weaning. Hope you both get through it

If unreel bab is ready for solids, then just go ahead. U r just about 6 months. Advice when I had ds 4 yrs ago was 4 mths for solids then changed to 6 2 yrs later. Thought I heard from a healthcare professional it might be going back to 4 months. Teething will happen wjether eating solids or not. Calpol is best for that. Good luck.

Firstly, the body is not prepared to handle food before six months, and it can do serious damage introducing before.

Secondly, there are many more calories in breast milk than there are in a few spoonfulls of mush. So you would be unlikely to notice any difference at all if you did introduce food early.

There is a sleep regression around now, as well as a developmental spurt, so that plus teething is what is going on. Cold flannels to chew on as well as things like normal teethers, and keep doing what you're doing. It will ease up, but seriously, food right now will not make an ounce of difference.

Thanks for your comments. I had a stinking headache last night too.

I had an early night, took him to bed with me, he fed every 2 hours, but we will get through this. It's like the newborn days again.

BFing has been fairly easy since the early days but it has been very taxing lately. My son must get through a litre of milk a day from me!
