Nursing fatigue

Anyonr else get this? The feeling that you are tired out, you just want to pack your boobs up and put up a "gone fishing" sign for the day?

I feel like this today, just want an off duty day, not to give up forever just a day off! I'm grumpy, tired and it's raining.

So am I the only one? What do you do to get a fresh start out of the slump?

I get dh to fetch me chocolate (or cake, or both Blush)

Pootle78 · 27/08/2012 18:24

Oh b*gger dear, forgot to stock up on chocolate when in tesco but I did remember the Ben and Jerry's ice cream!!

Yes, softly am also having one of those days, I think it's a culmination of poor weather, ds2 constantly attached to me and a very grumpy ds1 and even grumpier dh, he's back at work tomorrow so hopefully it'll be less stressful then!!!!!!

mamaonion · 27/08/2012 19:54

I have those days especially when my ds is thrashing around during feeds (9 months) and won't settle in his own bed and ends up in mine, and I'm like aaaaargh! I just want some space. I just want to be left alone. I don't want any kids climbing on me, and no I bloody well don't want to snuggle up to dh!!!!

hairytale · 27/08/2012 20:32

Me too. Cake, lots of fluids and an hour off for a kip/bubble bath.

I totally feel like this sometimes too. I absolutely love breast feeding most of the time. its so convenient but every now and then i just think, I wish DH had a pair of milky tits so I could have time out.
Why have men got nipples anyway? I read that if their liver function is supressed with chemicals that men can lactate. I dont know if this is true!! It would be so bloody handy though!
Im with you raspberry on the shower thing. when DH comes home and I get 10 minutes to shower its like heaven.

TruthSweet · 27/08/2012 22:28

Men have nipples because they were originally female embryos before the Y chromosome switched on - some men can and do lactate google 'milk men' if you want more info- as some men have milk producing glands (that's why some men are vulnerable to breast cancers and other men aren't). Tumours and medicines can induce high levels of pro-lactin in men as well which can kick start milk production too.

IIRC there is a tribe somewhere where the men bf as well as the women - fairly equally I believe. Can't remember the name of the tribe though or where I read it (blasted pg brain!).

mamaonion · 28/08/2012 07:12

DH has had the children try on him before but they have all objected strongly to the hair Sad, a clean finger has had to suffice in those incidences Grin.

Hope you are having a better day today Softly even without an Aka DH!
