I'm in need of advice. What brand of baby milk do you use and why? Does it matter? I haven't got a clue and there are so many it's a bit confusing.

When I combi fed ds, we used hipp as it was cheapest (£6.97 a box, those were the days (last year!)) but also it comes in two foiled pouches and as he was only having to formula bottles a day it seemed safest as it wasn't all exposed to the air and would last us just over a fortnight.

And we use 1 pre made toddler milk at night. We did try cows milk (which he will drink at anytime during the day) but found if we gave it to him at night it would send him hyper!!! Fingers crossed he'll grow out of that soon and we can put him back in cows milk!

I agree it's awful how much they can charge comfort /stay down milks are even
More expensive. I never paid any attention to the closest to breastmilk crap as theres no way anything derived from a completely different species can be anything remotely near. It was the best for me I tried several. I didnt pay attention to hype or price as that wasn't what's important.

I have to admit that I struggle with people believing that what they are giving their baby is closer to breastmilk it just can't be. It's like believing that a toy on the tv does everything it says it dies cos we all know that never happens.

As far as hcp goes I was never recommended one over the other by any of them so if HVs are telling people this then that needs to stop right away!!!!

Agree advertising needs to be dealt with too as you can't claim something that can never ever be true but that goes for every product known to man. For instance eggs/milk etc there's a million reasons supposedly claiming they r good/bad for you.

Criteria should always be what fits best got the purpose. Unfortunately someone's always gonna make money out of it but then health is priceless and that's all we want for our babies. :)

I used SMA Gold for all 3 of mine and have had no bother with it all. I have also chopped and changed formula a few times (on holiday) and the babies have had no problems at all switching and going back.

looks like c&g is the way to go and it's cheapest. Will give it a try and see what ds thinks of it.
