Does anyone know if is safe to use calamine lotion while Breastfeeding? I have a slight rash I want to use it to clear up but am wary about using it straight away. Has anyone used it will Breastfeeding? Any abnormal effects happen? Thanks in advance!

Calamine lotion is topical - it stays on the skin, and does not work systemically, so I can't see how it could possibly be harmful to a baby via the milk as it won't get in the milk (you'd use calamine lotion on a baby direct, anyway, would you not? Without worrying? So that's a big clue!)

One thing you could do to reassure yourself would be to check with the pharmacist, and you can also call the breastfeeding network's drugs line or see their factsheets at their website.

Hi thanks for your replies, I guess it does just dome down to common sense doesn't it... Dopey me got a bit bamboozled by the exclamation mark warning to pregnant/breastfeeding mums on the side of the bottle Confused.
