4mo hurting my nipples!

4 month old DD has started pulling really hard at my nipples, like trying to come off but still holding on to the nipple. She's also started 'grinding' them inbetween her gums and my poor nips are getting very sore now. I unlatch her when she does it, but I don't always stop her in time before the yanking starts. Is this just a pahse!? I've been using the Lansinoh when required, but I feel like we're going backwards with the feeding!

It's awful isn't it! I'm sure they know what they are doing as well!

I was just about to post about this very same thing! One side is SO sore from the yanking. Wonder why they do it??? I did read somewhere teething can be the cause but I really haven't a clue myself. Dd3 has been doing this for a week, along with boob aerobics- intense fidgeting. Confused

shezzle · 16/08/2012 22:17

Dd3 is nearly 5 mos

Am now very worried about actual teeth....

I will be able to flick the light switch on and off with mine without leaving the bed at this rate...

We also have the acrobatic feeding times. It is the grinding I don't like - I think she is getting a bud of a tooth in as there is something sharp digging in as well.
I never really had sticky-outty nipples, but now I constantly look like jennifer aniston! Do they shrink back when breastfeeding stops?

Had this problem with DD a few weeks ago, I found that feeding her in the rugby ball position meant she couldn't do it so much, plus it was less sore.

After about a week my nipples had healed and weren't painful anymore so went back to cross the body position.

Thankfully she seems to have got bored with the nipple twanging now Smile

Grin at nipple twanging

shezzle · 16/08/2012 23:15

And I bloody well hope they shrink back piggymad!
