Hi, just wondered, is there a need to eat more calories whilst breast-feeding to help baby put on more weight?have been eating a lot of cakes/biscuits etc lately and really want to stop now but wondered if I should carry on for babies sake?

You may well feel more hungry than normal when bf (bf uses an extra 600 odd calories per day) but there is no need for you to eat extra to make your baby put on weight or to make you milk "better". Just eat a normal balanced diet and you'll be fine. Maternal diet has very little effect on milk production unless you have been on a starvation diet for some time (milk is produced at the detriment to the mother's own body in this situation) and living in the western world you will not be in that situation.
