Not me, but a pal of mine!

Her dd is 6 months and all of a sudden she has started leaking breastmilk, but hasn't breastfed since the baby was 2 weeks old! Never heard of this before... anyone else?

could she be pg???

Pruni · 10/03/2006 17:00

I leaked once before I was ever pg - I had been on domperidone as an anti-sickness drug. Dr assumed it was a side-effect of that but checked me out for ?prolactinaemia or a pituitary gland tumour or something. Benign, apparently, but result in high levels of prolactin, hence leakage.

Nope not pg

Miaou, she should see her GP. I have heard of this being due to a hormonal problem, possibly to do with the pituitary gland. Maybe not in your friend's case as its not that lomg since she was pg but far better to be safe.

Miaou · 11/03/2006 13:56

Thanks folks - I fully expected people to say "oh, I had this" so I was a bit surprised that no-one had it!

Agree with Chipmonkey, she should see a GP, could be a prolactinoma.
