Too worked up to feed (5 week old)

What on earth can I do? DS is crying so much tonight. I know he must be hungry as hasn't fed properly all afternoon/ evening. I've offered frequently, had an hour or so of skin to skin on the bed and an hour in a wrap. Far too hot for the wrap though, which has been working well over the past few evenings.

I know he's exhausted but also hungry. Offering the breast makes him even angrier.

Poor little boy - I don't mind the crying, just want to help him.

Have you tried a bath? I always found a bath really helped to calm LO and was where he latched best. I would either sit up with him in the classic cradle position, or have him alongside me (bit tricky, don't have too much water in the tub), or have him laying on my stomach while lying back.

Just make sure your OH is handy for when you need to get out!

Thanks for the idea. Unfortunately he's still at the bath hating stage, so I don't think it would help. However, I'll try anything if he doesn't feed or sleep soon.

It's a shame that he hates the bath (LO is a real water baby and can't get enough of the bath, he cries when we have to get out!).

Have you tried giving him to someone else to hold for a bit and see if that works?

Thanks. In the end last night he gave in and fed beautifully in our darkened bedroom. Just too overstimulated I think. It's not so hot here today so I'll put him in the wrap earlier. He's lovely this morning! All smiles and cute noises.
