Right boob is by far the 'best' and enough for ds for most feeds (only empties in the evening in clusterfeed mode), but has a bit of a fast let down awhich is worsened when it fills up. How can i get left boob up in supply so it'll last a full feed and/or even the sides out a bit (big visual diffrence too!)? Atm i'll use left side and then some of right for one feed, then right for next, but i'm guessing that just makes it worse since right gets more stmulation?

dunno - i was told that they make milk as they feed, so maybe just keep him on there longer each time you use that side?

i've got one bigger than the other, too, but she has always had equal on both sides (i think)

or try starting on the left if you finish on the right - i'm sure i've heard that it's number of times rather than full emptying that helps supply.

Nickl, you mean start on left every time? Would mean right wouldn't empty, doesn't that risk blockages more?

I'm confused about how supply works - is it number of times offered, length of time spent at boob, strength of sucking, degree of emptying?

no no, i mean start with the next boob every time.
so if you finish on the right, start on the left.
and if you finish on the left, start on the right.

you shouldn't get blockages if you swap feed, because the theory is that the boob makes what it assumes it needs.
but it also makes more throughout a feed (you know when they do that writhing around? that's them telling the boob to get a move on! and make more milk)

oh, i see what you're getting at.

i would probably try to keep one boob all the way through.
or if you swap to the right, swap back to the left before you finish.

Ah, good idea. Will try switching back if he insists on changing sides.

Bonus slly question: need (well, want) to express a little as well and the left pumps really poorly. Should i just express a little at a time on left to help production there or do right (for whatever is left) after one feed?

you don't need to swap him back straight away, but after a bit of a feed on that side, maybe.

bonus answer: yes, that's a good idea.

when i've pumped, i've done a feed on one side then pumped the other side and then got dd to feed from the pumped side and pumped the other side etc.
