My two breastfed dd's are never ill, very intelligent and slim

And it's entirely up to breastfeeding, both of them for over two years.

Grin Wink

(Just felt inspired to start this thread as every time research in favour of breastfeeding is quoted the anecdotal evidence is dug out how it's all wrong wrong wrong - with the so-called breastfeeding "mafia" (how I hate that term!!!) pointing out that research is about likelihood and probability. So today I thought "what the heck, I can do it too" Grin)

My DS's - one breastfed and one bottlefed - and both tall and thin - genes again I reckon (thankgod they never got them from me or they would be short and fat LOL).

In case I get totally misunderstood: I don't believe that it's that simple, I'm not saying that breastfeeding automatically leads to this result.
Just that it was more likely. Smile

CD, see other thread in active convos on bottlefed babies being more likely to be obese.

my bf ds is like a michelin man with 2 chins, 3 bums and sausage arms!

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 07/03/2006 16:39

"CD, see other thread in active convos on bottlefed babies being more likely to be obese."

Ermm it's bottlefed babies who are weaned early are more likely to be obese. Grin

emkana · 07/03/2006 16:40

oops... sorry, missed that bit.

My dad, bfed for 2 years, is a fatty :o.

turniphead · 07/03/2006 19:08

groundhog day

was there any need for this thread?

emkana · 07/03/2006 19:14

maybe not

but how many threads are actually needed?

OP posts:
emkana · 07/03/2006 19:15

I guess I'm just in a bit of a funny mood today.

I just don't understand and I never will understand why so many people are willing to find their anecdotal evidence more valid and meaningful than proper scientific studies.

But never mind, I'll say no more and as far as I'm concerned let this thread sink without trace if it hurts any feelings/bores people to tears/both! Smile

whooppee do.

smug.

parp.

i'm off.

dejags · 07/03/2006 19:17

sorry Emkana, that was a kneejerk post because this is a sensitive subject for me.

your post is likely to cause some uproar because it comes across as terribly holier than though.

fwiw, my DS1 is slim, incredibly bright and was was bottlefed from birth.

noddyholder · 07/03/2006 19:17

I think you are trying to kick something off here saying it is more likely What about all of us who bottlefed and have gorgeous slim intelligent babies?

lunarx · 07/03/2006 19:19

i was bottlefed and consider myself fit and intelligent!!!!

Mercy · 07/03/2006 19:19

Scientific studies aren't the be all and end all whatever the subject imo.

turniphead · 07/03/2006 19:20

because the people in a proper scientific study could well be posters on mumsnet - they're just ordinary people like us - they tell their stories to the researchers and mumsnetters tell their stories to each other - it's the same thing really except mn doesn't collate the info

everyone knows too many calories and too little exercise = obesity - that ain't nothing new

emkana · 07/03/2006 19:20

But that is exactly my point!!! My children were more likely than yours to be of good health etc. but that doesn't mean that yours had no chance whatsoever to be slim, intelligent, gorgeous, super-healthy etc. It's about likelihood and probability...

but as I say, I'll give up. Don't want to upset too many people just because I got out of bed the wrong way today. Smile

So apologies etc. etc.

OP posts:
turniphead · 07/03/2006 19:21

no - it's all about genes

turniphead · 07/03/2006 19:21

and education

dejags · 07/03/2006 19:23

Sorry but that's opinion but not fact.

How do you know your children are healthier than mine - have you met my kids?

Sorry but I also got out of bed on the wrong side today and this thread has really irritate me.

Doesn't pay to be too smug and bragging about good health is borderline tempting fate in my opinion.
