Steroids and BFing?

Purely hypothetical at the moment, but after having DS I was unwell when he was a few days old and had to take 2 weeks of steroids. I asked the dr about breastfeeding while on them, and he couldn't answer me, although he put me on a slightly lower dose once I explained I was hoping to continue.

I didn't feel confident to EBF so I began mix feeding, and never really built my supply back up after stopping the steroids. I blame this for me not successfully breastfeeding as long as I'd like.

Me and DH are planning on TTC soon, so I'm curious in case the same happens again - can I still breastfeed while on steroids? Is there any studies about it? I desperately want to aim for at least 6 months EBF next time, but obviously not at the expense of my baby's health!
