Does it matter if I don't switch sides?

DD is 6 weeks. I have been feeding from both sides in each feed up until recently - wait for her to come off and then switch over. But I've noticed in the past week that she is not interested in the other side when I switch. The length of time she feeds for has also reduced so I guess she's getting more efficient at it and is getting more on the one side and not still feeling hungry when she comes off. When I saw a bfc last week she also remarked that she thought my milk flowed very fast so I don't know if that also contributes. Is it a problem just feeding from one side per feed or is my supply well established enough to deal with it by now? Thanks.

If DD doesn't want to feed from the other side, just offer that side first on the next feed.

Congrats on birth of DD. You are doing fantastically.

i've very rarely fed from both sides in one feed.
i always start the next time from the other boob.

DD only has one boob unless she's having a growth spurt or is poorly.
when i've offered the 2nd boob, she's not been interested, normally.

:)

What nickel said.

Only one side at a time here unless an hour has passed or pulling off after a good feed and fussing for more but not wanting same one. On baby number 3 now and always been this way.

Same here - LO generally only takes one side. Sometimes he waits 15 minutes and then wants the other side, but that's quite rare. I just see which boob feels more full/heavier and start with that one.

Both my babies generally only want one side. I had oversupply so in under 10 min on one side they'd be full.

I think it completely depends on a person to person basis.

I'm like nickel. However, my flow is very fast as is my letdown and even now at 8 months old, DD sometimes has to come off as she chokes!

DS only does one boob per feed too. I also have a really fast flow & good supply. Only time I two boob him is when he's cluster feeding in the evenings or a growth spurt Smile

Same here - DS very rarely has both sides, apart from the last feed before bed. You sound like you are doing amazinglyl Smile
