boulder boobs and drippy nips

Hello,

I am new to breast feeding, ds is 5 days old and my milk came in on day 3 I think, my boobs however are like boulders and I am randomly leaking milk all the time. Will it always be like this or will it eventually settle down?

It will settle down in a few days, you are doing marvellous & what's happening is perfectly normal, congrats on your new baby

It is normal, though if you have any extreme pain or tenderness or red patches, seek help (GP). It will become more normal, and a lot easier. In my experience.

It will definitely settle down Your breast will feel less like boulders and you won't leak quite as much. Some people leak more than others. I am a leaker so wear breastpads a lot but some ladies hardly leak at all.

Don't panic - this is perfectly normal. I called my 5 day post-birth boobies my 'porn star boobs'. They were HUGE. They settled down after about 3 days, and stopped leaking after another week.

One you're in the swing of things, your boobs should feel quite soft (although feel heavier when they're full). Don't mistake the softness for not having enough milk, it just means your body has adjusted.

Rachog, congratulations!! i think it takes about 6 weeks for your baby to get your supply properly established. like sarry says, your boobs can go much softer after and you might worry you havent got enough but you definitley will have if you let babs nibble whenever he/she wants ;-)

Glad to know they will soften up, I agree they are certainly porn star boobs! I was worried I would he going round like dolly parton for the duration. I hope the leaking tails off a bit, ds and I seem to be wearing as much milk as he is drinking, much to the other children's amusment!
