Ds 14 months got his first two teeth at 8 months, we had some problems with latch at that time but it didnt last long.
The rest appear to be coming along together, he currently has five teeth on the way through and sore gums further back, he is grumpy and miserable with it.
His latch has completely gone to pot, I had blocked ducts last week and today god knows how. he's skinned my nipple. Its painfull on both breasts those teeh are sharp, he's not emptying the breast properly and I hate it.
I wanted to be in for the long haul, but I cant stand much more of this.
If I detach and relatch he screams and hollers - proper upset not temper, relatches then we are back to the chomping.
Any ideas please PLEASE

I found that once that particular load of teeth were in, his latch went back to normal again. The only times he would bite were during teething. Hang in there, it'll get better again Smile

If it's teething problems, are you able to give Calpol/teething powders/whatever you use half an hour beforehand so that it has had a chance to ease the pain before you bf?

Is that for me or him....

For him - so that he will be on less pain when he feeds so less likely to cause you pain (hopefully pain-free all round!)

I used to have the same problem when ever DS got new teeth - when things got really painful (for me) I'd only feed from one side at a feed to give the other nipple a bit of a chance to recover. He wasn't happy about it, it didn't seem to cause issues with my supply, and that break (plus some lanisoh or whatever was hanging around) made all the difference.

To be honest giving pain killers in such an organised manner isnt possible

Flaming phone, havnt finished. We mainly feed at night, he helps himself. He has just fed,to sleep andafter a good start hurt me , on both sides. Im trying to feed less often and,am slapping on the Lansinoh.
Lets hope he recovers his latch soon.
