DS is getting more grumpy with each day...

DS is now 6wks and is EBF (apart from the odd formula top up when I go into meltdown)
The past few days there's been a change in his behavour, he is feeding more often (okay I'm thinkin growth spurt so I'm going with it) but when I take him off to wind him he crys like he's in pain. I used to wind him without any problem but now it happens all the time. Strangely when I stand up to wind him he then stops crying.
Plus he is now very unsettled during most feeds, he's always pulled off me but it seems to be pulling off me much more often (I'm guessing he gets fed up after the initial rush and is a bit lazy waiting for the next one, eventually he settles again) which hurts plus I find it upsetting. He wants back on, head buts me and his little fists are striking me.
Basically the breast feeding isn't going well but I'm trying really hard to get past the 8 wk mark - in the hope that things improve Sad

Could I ask why do you take him off to wind mid feed? Could you leave it til he comes off himself, he may be getting cross cos he's not finished yet?

Not sure about the fussing you mention in the second half of your posr, so I won't speculate!

I wind him when he pops off himself, I guess I've just always done it as he suffers from wind and a bit of colic. I've been doing it less today because of the upset and he's brought up some milk, some digested and some not. I don't know anymore what I should be doing, confidence diminishes with each day...

This sounds like typical growth spurt behaviour - pulling off stimulates let down of milk, he may be trying to increase your supply or speed it up. It's probably worth looking at the wonder weeks website with regard to the grumpiness - there's lots of development leaps around this age and babies tend to show cranky and clingy behaviour as it is a tough time for them
