hi, ds has always preferred rhs, faster let downs that last longer, plus seemingly more let downs per feed, have tried loads to resolve ... putting him on there first, putting him back on if he only feeds there a short time, have tried to pump but not doing as much as would like as no time with always feeding and other ds. i have always been told latch fine , but i am starting to get really sore (initial pain not bad, it's just getting wose through the feed), and last 24 hrs he has only twice spent longer than 5 mins on threre before pulling off (&not satisfied) , while on other side feeding for bweteeen 10 and 25 mins. have tried breast compression but this seems to bug him. my nipple is slightly elongated on one side and looks a bit pinched. am going to bf support group tom, but i have asked them to check latvh before and they said fine, so not sure they can help as i haven't changed anything. when we do skin to skin he does stay there longer, but he sucks so vigorously that i almost can't stand it as it gets more and more sore. i have tried other positions and he does stay on longer when we lie down, but it seems more sore for me. we dorugby psn on rhs so don't think it's ear infection or anything, as he lies onn his rhs for both breasts. any othr suggestions? would be so grateful cos feel have run out of solutions !

no suggestions just sympathy. I have 3 dc, bf all of them til age 1. My dc3 decided at some point that she didn't like my right boob. She wouldn't feed on that side and it eventually got so I was bf only on left and did that for 6 months.

Don't know if it is the same, but it is possible. Hope the group can help

I had a problem with too fast letdown esp on right side so baby would clamp down to slow it or pull off. Was advised to try feeding leaning back with baby on top so gravity would slow down the flow. It helped v quickly. NCT free advice line on breastfeeding open 8am. to 10pm everyday and v helpful. Have you tried them?

thank you both :) yes have phoned nct - they are fab :) things seem to be a bit more balanced now, but it's so reassuring to know it can be done with one - well done steppemum !
