Breast or bottle first in the evening

I'm trying to give up breastfeeding. I'm going back to work and would really like to have her completely on a bottle by the time I do.

My DD is 11 months old and has been ebf up until about a month ago. She now only has three feeds a day: one when she gets up, one in the afternoon and one just before bed. I managed to convert the afternoon feed to a bottle. Its a bit variable as to how much she will take: sometimes 150mls, sometimes only 50mls and sometimes none at all. Even if she doesn't take much she will last out until dinner time without getting hungry.

I wanted to convert the evening feed over to a bottle as well. The problem is she again will only take a small amount from the bottle. Sometimes only 30mls and even that can be a bit of a battle. Because I don't want her to be hungry overnight I then breastfeed her. But then it feels like I am rewarding her for not drinking the milk from the bottle.

Should I breast feed her first and then try the bottle or just keep going with what I am doing? Has anyone out there had a similar problem?

Hi, I'm having the same problem! I've weaned DD (10.5mths) off me between 6am-6pm, and I have been offering formula just before bath in a cup and after she is in her sleeping bag, but she just twists around and sucks my chest! I'm going to try and get DH to put her to bed 2 or 3n in a row with a cup to see if that does it but she just gone down with cold number 10 so we put it on hold again! (big SIS keeps bringing bugs home from school) Another friend suggested I wear a jumper of my DH and then feed her in the hope it hides the breast milk smell! Good luck, I've got 5wks till I rtn to work and want it done by then too.
