Touched by gift from MIL

Just wanted to share a quick story. DS was EBF until 6 months and I then continued to feed him until just after his 1st birthday. During this time I endured a lot of negative comments from my in laws, who were constantly badgering me to give him a bottle/wean him early etc etc.

So! They're just back from holiday inCanada & brought DS back this lovely book. It's called "I love my Mommy because" & goes through all these examples, using animals as illustrations (so "she tucks me in" is a kangaroo with a joey). MIL said she had picked it because of one of the illustrations in particular. I wasn't hopeful..

It was a lamb suckling a sheep, with the caption "she gives me food". MIL then just muttered something about how it shows how natural it is and then wandered off. I think it was her way of apologising.

I am Shock! Just had to tell someone!

That's definitely an apology. Kudos to your MIL.

Ahhhh... sounds like it! Well done your MIL for giving the book, and well done you for being gracious enough to let go of all the previous negative comments and be touched by her gesture. :)

Ah bless, that's really sweet of her. It sounds like a lovely gift anyway, but to particularly point out that picture must have been quite a big leap for her!

Thanks everyone! Am currently pregnant with DC2 so will be interesting to see if her attitude has changed if I manage the same again.

To be fair, I've had loads of support on here which helped me to accept a lot of why she felt the need to make the comments.

Still stunned though..
