Decongestants while breast-feeding?

I've always thought you weren't allowed to take any type of decongestant whilst bf (sudafed, vicks, that type of thing).
BUT five days into a horrendous virus and wondering how to get through another night with 7 week old and my head and ears full of mucuus makes me ask.. Is it really harmful? What would it do to the milk?
TIA

decongestants are designed to dry up bodily fluids. They aren't targeted so in effect they can help dry up your milk. I defiantly wouldn't take them with such a young baby.

Have a read hear for more info for what you can take. www.breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk/pdfs/dibm/Cough-and-Cold-Remedies-October-2011.pdf

You could also trying inhaling steam with something like olibs oil in .

Thanks MigGril, I won't take anything. Have been working hard to get my milk supply up! Just so desperate to start feeling better soon!
