Is this normal?

DD3 is 3.5 weeks old and is mainly breastfed - she has two formula bottles a day. For about the past week or so she's been sick after every feed - more than just a mouthful of milk; sometimes more sicky than others. About 10 days ago we had a "projectile vomit" episode after a breastfeed, then last night we had another one after a bottle feed (she brought back the whole feed). She's also been pulling at the breast and making faces when I've been feeding her, and gagging but not bringing anything up - the expression on her face tells me she feels uncomfortable when this happens.

Is this normal for such a young baby? I'm getting myself really worked up about how sick she is being, and the vomiting last night really freaked me out. [She doesn't seem ill, although she's been more unsettled for the past couple of days. She's having plenty of wet and dirty nappies, and seems to be putting on weight.] Any advice would be really appreciated as this is getting me down a bit. TIA

This sounds pretty normal. My DS2 was a bit of a sicky baby, but gained fine, and stopped eventually. Sometimes they're just a bit sicky.

If they bring up the whole feed, a few times in a row, you have to go see a doctor. But otherwise, it's not worth worrying about (as long as she's putting on weight, lots of wet and dirty nappies, as you say).

I think our HV recommended Gaviscon for my son, but as he was breastfed, and it was really more of a laundry issue than a health issue, I didn't bother.
