Expressing - how much did you manage first time?

I've been pumping for an hour, manual pump, and have 30 ml.
Don't think my 8month old will be happy with that for a bedtime feed. (Though I don't know how much she usually gets of course)

Technique has improved over the hour, can I expect more next time>

30 ml is very good for a first attempt, I think that I managed about 5 or 10 ml. It will get better, part of it is your body getting used expressing, as well as technique. If you pump first thing in the morning you will probably get more too.

Good for a first attempt.

My DS is 9 weeks tmrw and I can now express a good 4-5oz of each side.

yup, I did total crap at first. You must have saintly patience to have persevered that long!

Agree first thing in the morning good time, and wierdly gazing vacantly into the distance got better result than thinking about the baby. Late at night I didn't have much at all.

Good to hear. Hmm.. evening would be better for fitting into routine, but if milk supply is greater in morning then it wouldn't take as long. Thank you!
