DS2 is 2wks old. I can't actually remember how long it took DD1 to get more into a 'routine', but it feels a lot more relentless now I have a toddler to entertain too!

Can anyone give me a rough idea when babies don't need to be attatched constantly, when not sleeping (well,he actually sleeps most of the time on my breasts in the day as he wakes+cries when I try to put him down!) Don't get me wrong, I do love it, it's just quite exhausting! TIA

Bumping. I have a 4 week old DD who's exactly the same.

I found things eased betweens weeks 3 and 6 but 6 to 8 were very hard work. It was never that hard again but growth spurts happen roughly every six weeks and I found those hard until dd was 9 months and eating more food. I bf until she was 13mo and 8 weeks pg.

Ds2 is now 8wks and he's settled into the same sort of pattern as ds1 had by this stage - during the day (say 7am-6pm) he'll feed every 1.5-2hrs, during the evening (6pm -11pm) he'll cluster feed and basically seem like he's constantly attached and then 11pm - 7am he'll do a first sleep of between 4-6hrs and then wake again after 2-3hrs. He's been doing this for about 2-3wks now, before that it was feeding every 1-2hours round the clock.

I'm in same boat as Lindell and DS is 9 weeks tomorrow Smile

It gets easier!!

Have you tried a sling so you don't have to put him down? A stretchy wrap (e.g. Boba or Moby) is good for young babies.

Ah thank u! Lindsell that sounds a bit like ds now, though more in the day. Thx for saying it gets easier babylon1!

I have a mei tai and ergo, not supportive enough for his head. Saving up for a moby. I havnt heard of a boba x

DD is 17 days old and yesterday she fed virtually non stop for 10 hours but since about 8 last night has only been feeding every 2-2.5 hours. It's bliss, I got about 7 hours sleep last night (in blocks)., I really hope she keeps it up!

If a moby is expensive, you can get a Victoria Sling Lady stretchy wrap, they are the same sort of thing but much cheaper. Or get a wrap sling off ebay. They really are fantastic for little babies. There are a few mobys going cheap on there at the moment. Although I thought the ergo had an infant insert thingy to make it suitable from birth? Perhaps that is something you have to purchase separately?
