EBF baby suddenly disliking one side

My 14wo has decided since yesterday that she no longer likes one side and keeps coming off and wiping her cheek across the breast before latching on again but not actually feeding. This goes on until both she and I get frustrated and I swap her over to the other side. On the other side she feeds fine.

It is the side that was her least favourite in the early days and the one with which I had oversupply issues but it all settled down weeks ago.

What on earth is going on?!

Have you tried lying down to feed? Also a tip is to feed her in the same position as the "good" breast but move her along resting on cushions or something so her body is sort of under your arm! this worked for me! Ps this happened with 2 of my children so its not uncommon!

Could she have a sore ear? If a possibility, as well as previous poster's positioning suggestions, you may want to see a GP.

Thanks for the ideas. No clue as to what the issue was, but she's back to normal again today. Weird!

A bit of a cold or something can cause it too. If it happens again maybe try feeding in rugby hold on that side, it is usually about not wanting to be that way round rather than not wanting that breast iyswim.

my DD does this periodically, sometimes she would point blanc refuse to feed from the left. it's usually just a phase that passes but she has always preferred the right side ever since she was born. if she's feeding for comfort she always prefers the right.
