What do you all do? I try to change her first but then she gets wound up before her feed. If I change after , which if she has done a poo you need to....then she usually brings up her milk on her babygrow?? My DD is only 13 days old and I am a first time mum so any tips welcome? I am demand feeding so dont need to change her bum to wake her so to speak....

Feed her without a nappy on and hold her over a top hat potty or bowl between your knees when she needs to go. Then just wipe with a cloth and carry on feeding for minimum disruption. Feeding is often associated with defecation in the early days, so it can be very predictable :)

Have a look at Elimination Communication resources for more info.

feed then change is in line with baby whisperer and gina ford types who say its best to wake-feed-otherstuff-sleep

I found it worked - but that was just DS, can you change her on a wedge

My DD is 6 months next week and still always poops mid-feed so I have to stop and change her immediately or risk it running up her back.

We do a feed/change/feed - if I changed her nappy without giving her a feed first in the night she would howl the house down so found that giving her a feed till she comes off then do nappy change as she will usually have pooed mid feed anyway then back on the boob again to finish as she will have woken up a bit from the nappy change and the second feed will in turn make her sleepy again x
