How do you finish breastfeeding ?

I have been gradually switching to formula for my dd over the past 6 weeks or so. The last time I b/f was 2 days ago. My right boob has still got some milk in - feels lumpy and slghtly uncomfortable. Do I just leave it, or express, or let dd feed off it to ease the engorgement ? Won't it then produce more milk ? My left boob is fine - she hasn't fed off that one for a week or so and I didn't have any problems with it. Any suggestions ?

when i stopped i used a pump whenever my breasts felt engorged and just fed the expressed milk to the baby. only took about a week.

If you just stop you'll be engorged for a little while, but don't express or feed otherwise you'll kick off the milk production again.

Podkin I agree with fredly, just stop. Use a hot flannel to sooth your poorly boob but the milk/lumpwill just go away. Just keep an eye out for mastitis eg gets worse and you get a temp and of needs be then go to the docs. Don't confuse those boobs by doing a quick feed though!

A dose of epsom salts used to be recommended to get rid of the milk - my mum told me this and I tried it and it worked. But dont stay away from the loo for too long. Unfortunately it works by making you a little dehydrated for a day so you might not like to try this. I was also told strap on a firm bra and dont fiddle with the breast then it will get the message to stop producing.
