Hi (again). We seem to have a new problem every day ! Over the last 48 hours, the behaviour of my son on the LHS has been worrying me compared to the right. He seems to go on eagerly, take the first let down and then falls asleep (even though I know there is more milk in there). He comes off, I put him down, then he wakes wanting more so I put him back on the same side to empty it a bit more. On the right, he is glugging away from start to finish - I seem to have let down after let down. I have had latch checked on both sides by various people and all fine. I have tried breast compression, which doesn't seem to do anything. It feels like the right is more like a bottle feed and the left he has to work much harder and I am worried about how the difference seems to be getting worse. Any advice greatly appreciated.

They always prefer one breast to the other, one breast will always be easier to feed on..you seem to have a great milk supply, I am very happy for you, your baby sounds like he is still building up his supply, and he will be growing fast???
don't worry, you are normal. I breast fed 3 children for up to 2 years each, it settles down, you and the baby shall sort yourselves out. It wont always be like this, you are both learning.

I had this so I kept favouring the side she was fussing on to encourage and increase the supply. It seemed to work. Good luck!

Yes pumping is worth a try, have you looked on the Kellymom website? May be some advice there. Do you have a local breast feeding counsellor or group? Might be worth popping along to that if you're worried.

I had a problem with my left side due to an inverted nipple. Feeding my DC1 from that side was possible, but painful and took forever.

With DC2 I haven't used the left side and have supplemented with a bottle when needed, but mostly I have been able to keep up one-sided.

Good luck!

Try keeping him in the same position as he is on the good side and then moving him over to the other side without turning him over, if you see what I mean. It could be that he has a crick in his neck or something and doesn't find the bad side comfortable.
