Biting 6mo

My 6mo's first top tooth came through about a week ago and since then he's been biting me during feeds, usually when he's tired or distracted. Obviously this hurts like hell, but for some reason it bothers me more emotionally than physically. I find myself getting really upset and angry with him. I utterly hated the first three to four months of BFing so possibly have some baggage there too. Is there anything I can do to a) make him stop doing it b) deal with it better

I just wanted to add that I find myself reacting as if he's doing it on purpose, even though I know rationally he isn't. I have no idea why I'm taking it so personally.

Oh I know just how you feel. My 12mo (with 8 teeth) bit me twice this evening and I felt like crying - and not from the pain!

From my experience, at 6mo DS only bit when he was teething. I think it's just that gnashing down on something impulse they get. I would make sure he was bonjella'd up before feeds, which helped quite a bit. The biting passed as the teething pain subsided.

Now he is older, he does it when he's not particularly fussed about having milk or he is bored. I just put my boob away with minimal fuss - have read that they begin to think the yelping and shouting is a game and do it more Hmm.

Good luck!
