Hi, my 9 week old baby has been sleeping really badly since birth, waking up every couple of hours, seeming in pain. We thought it was wind at first, and tried infacol, then dentinox when the infacol didn't seem to be doing anything. At his 8 week check I mentioned to the GP that I thought he may have a bit of silent reflux, as he was displaying a lot of the symptoms, but was never really sick at all. She gave me gaviscon for him, said to see if it helped.
He started sleeping a lot better straight away, we've had record times this week! He seems much more content in general. Unfortunately at the same time he's started puking a lot!
I had to change the teat he was using to a number 2, because the milk wouldn't come out of the number 1 with the gaviscon in it. I don't know whether this is the reason, if maybe he's drinking too fast. But tonight he was just really badly sick again, and he hadn't had a lot of milk in one go, only a little. He is being sick too much, he can't be getting enough nutrients like this.
I don't know what to do, as the gaviscon does seem to be helping the reflux, but we can't carry on with the puking, it's too much. I was reluctant to take him off it, but I'm going to have to, it's obviously not agreeing with him for some reason. Can anyone help with an idea of why this is happening, and advise me what to try next? I don't think he only has wind, as the gaviscon helped more than any wind remedy did.
Thanks if you can help us!
