question about breast pads and question about engorgement

Hi

I have two questions to ask of you lovely people:
1 can I use lansinoh cream while using bamboo reusable breast pads or am I better off using disposable pads if I need the cream?
2 expecting engorgement in the next day or so(dd born yesterday morning) what is the best way to ease discomfort?

Many thanks :)

Don't know the answer to your first q - sorry.

I found a muslin wetted with cold water laid gently over my breasts helped a lot with pain when my milk came in.

Congratulations btw!

I think the lansinho shouldn't make a difference to which pads you use (I used both types).

I think the lansinoh would still work for you, if you need it, but it may rather clog up the pads and be tricky to wash out. (given previous experience with cloth nappies and nappy creams.) I would use disposables when needed rather than ruin bamboo pads.

For the engorgement, baby will soon get that under control if you just keep offering feeds all the time, you might find that expressing a tiny bit off before the feed helps if you are so engorged its hard for the baby to get enough breast into her mouth.

Many thanks everyone. I'm nearly engorged now so will follow those tips. Already finding the last one helpful re expressing a bit to reduce the hardness so she can latch on. Thanks again.

You only need to use a tiny bit of Lansinoh (warm it between your fingers and put it on very thinly) so shouldn't make any difference to pads. I found cabbage leaves excellent (so cool!) but had them handy anyway.
