Milk supply and return to work

Hi all, I'm going to be working in an office between 8 and 6 on Mondays and Tuesdays, and DS will be with a childminder. For the rest of the week I am working from home, so can still feed on demand. DS will be 12 months, and he still feeds around 3 times during that period of the day. I was intending on expressing at work and giving this to the CM for DS, although I have a sneaky suspicion that he will probably just go without during the day and make up for it when he's not with me! So, my question is, if I end up stopping expressing on those two days, would it impact my supply? Will I find I need to express anyway to avoid being engorged or will things adjust given it's just those two days? Or should I just be expressing at the times I would be feeding (ish) in order to maintain supply?

Thanks in advance!

It sounds great that most days you'll be able to stay at home and feed when he needs it :)

I think your supply will adjust. I have twins, and when I went back to work full time when they were 12 months, they hardly drank anything in the day and just fed all night. I didn't need to express - somehow my body has learnt to make milk for the night and not so much in the day :) There is still milk there on the days that I'm at home and they want to feed in the day though.

I think a lot of people adjust to evening and morning feeds only when they go back to work and their supply adjusts accordingly :)

My supply adjusted with DC1. Some days I snuck home to express, but mostly not.

Thank you ladies, that's fantastic! What clever bodies we have to be able to adjust so well :)

My supply adjusted. I expressed at work for a while with all three. Ds2 would never take espresso though so supply waxed and waned and there was always enough. Expressing was as muchbforn20 min piece and offloading a couple of hundred calories :)

mine must have adjusted too as i just fed DS1 as normal on weekends and holidays. i was back doing full time shift work and it all seemed to balance out ok. :)

BulletProofMum Espresso! Grin

My supply has adjusted fine to working FT and feeding lots at the weekends. A little engorgement at first but no problems after the first couple of weeks. I gave up expressing pretty quickly as I was only getting a few mls. My baby is nine months.
