suggestions for tweaking nipple baby while BF?

I have a nursing necklace, bracelets, tried giving her a toy to keep in her hand too. Nope, she prefers tweaking my free nipple. (And sometimes looking up, saying "ahh" and giggling.) Anything else I should try? Thanks.

Thanks, Tipex, I've tried this too but she gets frustrated and starts crying. When I was quite firm she gave up feeding altogether and was grumpy for a bit. She's 1 next week and has only started doing this these last few weeks.

I'm on my fourth pinchy baby - he's the worst yet - and I've still not found a good solution. Mine has just turned one and is stronger and more sadistic than ever.

Sorry no help, but commiserations.

Ds2 was a very keen nipple-twiddler and it drove me mad. Managed to stop it, mostly by using the hand-over-breast technique and telling him pretty firmly that it just wasn't on. At nearly one, I think your dd can probably understand if you explain to her that it hurts mummy. You may have to get through a lot of protestation and possibly even a nursing strike before she gives up the twiddling though. (that's just from my experience)

There may be some other good ideas on kellymom.com , if you haven't looked there already.

Please don't shoot, but i had a mum who fed with baby facing the other way for a while and got him interested in the distractions and then turned him back again a few days later with great results.

What do you mean facing the other way? Willing to give everything a go. Thanks.

So baby's body was under her arm and baby facing her arm

Cristina7 · 28/02/2006 16:02

Aha, I'll give this a go, although she's a bit big now, I can't imagine how to position her. Definitely not something to do in public, I imagine. :)

the other option i saw yesterday at a cafe was baby lying on tabletop nursing on left breast with body out to the left of mum so baby couldn't reach over his head to 'get' mum's right nipple, he was a twiddler.

Baby on table? Now that takes some boldness!

DD1 used to hold my hand whilst nursing. Now she's a thumb sucker and grabs my hand whilst sucking her thumb for her it's a comfort thing but she does it to strangers too, she'll grab their hand and suck her thumb bless her. Other toddlers do give her strange looks.
