Defrosted EBM

I've got a freezer full of ebm that is coming up to 3 months old so I defrosted some for dd1 but noticed it smelt different, so I tried a drop and it tasted cardboardy.
Is this because it's defrosted or is it off?
I've got lots of it so hope it's not going to be wasted! I'm crying at the thought of all that pumping!

Don't know sorry, but hopefully this will bump for you and somebody will be along shortly.....

Hmmmm, not come across cardboardy before! Maybe it's a variation on soapy, which is not uncommon due to excess lipase - sadly very well known to me - I did have to dump litres of the blimming stuff!

Thanks mombo! Thats really interesting. It's definatly not a sour/rancid smell and DD hasn't shown any aversion to it yet but I'll be gutted if I have to dump it all!
May be I could use it for sauces/custards etc when we start weaning.

I ended up chucking today's defrosted one as the smell was really strong. I guess I'm going to have to get rid of most of it if it's all like it. I know it's silly but I feel really sad about throwing it away!
