Feeding breast milk from a cup

My 7 month old has happily taken ebm from a bottle a few times before but this weekend point blank refused the bottle when being babysat by granny!
His dad has just had another attempt, but again tears and refusal.

We have an evening out at a concert planned for next week and I'm now concerned how he will take any milk.
Has anyone had luck feeding ebm from a cup?
Any recommendations for special cups to use?

Thanks!
S xx

How long are you going out for? Could you just skip a feed or give the milk in food eg cereal?

Hey at 7 months he should easily be able to drink from a cup well a sippy cup. I assume he already drinks water with his food from a cup anyway. My ds was the opposite refused for ages to take milk from a cup and would only do it from a bottle. They do encourage you to use a free flow cup (rather than non spill) as it encourages them to sip rather than suck like from a bottle, however this can be very messy and cause a lot of (that precious ebm) to be wasted! So you may wanna go for the non spill as they suck from these like a bottle. Am afraid I have no experience of the non spill variety as have only ever use free flow cups (which are really hard to get hold of sometimes!)

Definitely don't want to waste the precious ebm! Made me want to cry having to chuck the fruits of two tedious expressing sessions :(
I'll prob be going out for 5/6 hours, so granny might be able to keep him going with some baby rice and banana. Not had much success with water , but will give milk in a sippy cup a go x

Hi. My 9 week old point blank refuses a bottle so we have been using a doidy cup with a bit of success. It has like a extended wide rim on one side so you can gently tip. It is messy and takes a while but we just put 1 ounce in at a time so not to waste!

Not all babies get the hang of drinking from a sippy cup by seven months (bitter) but mine is happy with solids for eight hours while I'm at work - she's rubbish with all cups (9 months!) and won't entertain a bottle.

ladywidmerpool. You are right I should not have said easily!! Was lucky with my ds he could drink from a sippy cup at 4 months! Although we had a only half fill it as he could not lift it. Just mean't they are capable of doing so!

Another fan of the doidy cup here. My ds is 3.5 months, refuses all bottles and I need to restart work in 3 weeks so have had him on expressed breast milk via doidy for the last 2 weeks. Been a good result for us. As others say, messy but little and often works to minimise waste and he sort of laps it up. You need patience to help them take it slowly.

enjoy your concert.
