Tips for first timer with 'fussy' breastfeeder

Hi all. Had anyone got any tips for BFing a wiggly baby? My LO is 12 weeks old and during about 8 out of 10 feeds she's very fussy. She'll latch on and off, only suckling (often quite vigorously) for a few seconds before coming off again. It's really frustrating as it means I have to remain really focused, which is fine during the day but tough at night. It also means I often end up with a fair bit of milk down me.

I'm still using a shield as I haven't been able to wean her off it yet. We've also had problems with reflux which have been alleviated a lot by me cutting out dairy. Not sure if either of these thing make a difference.

Would be really grateful for any tips. I don't think it's wind as I burp her frequently and she'll be like this even after a good burp.

Bee have you seen a BFC? What did she say?

Bee how are you getting on now? I can't link at the moment but have a look at oversupply on Kellymom.

Hi Jilted. Thanks so much for your replies! I saw a lactation consultant about a week after birth when I was having horrendous problems (but different difficulties to now) but not since then. I looked up oversupply as you suggested and we pretty much tick each of the signs that are bullet pointed on Kellymom. Have tried leaning back feeding and it's helped quite a bit...could see a difference almost immediately. Hopefully if we persist with that she'll calm down a bit. Thank you so much for the suggestion- I was immensely grateful in the middle of the night that she was fussing less!

Glad she was fussing less and that you may have sorted what is causing this problems.
