painful lump

I stopped BF a couple of weeks ago afer 9 months. I did it gradually, dropping about a feed a week until I was down to one feed a day. I suffered no engorgement or pain when I finally stopped altogether. However, I now have a hard painful lump on one of my nipples. Obviously this worries me but I wonder if it just a blocked duct or common complaint after stopping BF?

I agree, definitely go and get it checked. I also stopped recently at 9 months - had really sore lumpy boobs for about ten days then the soreness died down and my boobs now back to normal. I would be worried about a lump appearing two weeks later as it could be a blocked duct, and obviously the milk has nowhere to go because you're not feeding any more. Best to get it checked asap before it can develop into anything nasty.
